Every year at New Years I take a minute to look back on what has transpired and think and feel where it's going.
I take these thoughts and feelings and translate it in to flowers and build an arrangement that embodies what I want the year to hold. In December of 2015 one morning I was moved to tears by the song Changes by David Bowie.
The song's perspective of a man looking at getting older and finding the courage to be himself and grow, even if it means growing away from who everyone knows you to be deeply resonated with me.
This year has presented so much change,in the world and even in our city and it will not slow in the coming months...it's overwhelming at times.
It takes a great deal of courage to face change without fear- even more so when we live in a culture of mob mentality and fear mongering.
Each group is absolute and in their opinion -absolutely right.
Being an individual is an act of defiance-being as you are can be lonely- but the grace is,it is real.
It is true.
So in honor of all these thoughts I present you with this year's 2016 NYE Fleur Couture
This bouquet was created with flowers that symbolize diversity, courage, incubation, sanctuary, protection, fascination, the bonds of affection, independence and desire...(and modeled off my favorite look that the King of Chameleons wore on the cover of Aladdin Sane.)
